A mysterious deep blue 18mm diameter dichroic glass cabochon embraced in a graceful cage of antiqued sterling silver wire and fine silver beads, all intricately and painstakingly hand wrapped. Oxidized to bring out the detail and texture, this ring will bring some whimsical fantasy coupled with just a bit of Renaissance or medieval flavor. In the right light, you can pick out subtle shades of teal and purple in the glass, which I tried to capture just a bit in the fifth picture.
I made the dichroic glass cabochon fused and annealed in my kiln, and the wrap style I used is based somewhat on a tutorial by wire jewelry artist Eni Oken. The ring shank has been wrapped with half-round wire for strength and stability, and the ring face is about the size of a nickel and will stand up from the finger a little over 1/4 of an inch.
